My motivation to start racing as a child has been influenced greatly by my father. As an ex-motocross racer, he introduced motorcycles to me from an early age & I started riding mini bikes at the age of 5 around our home in Australia. When I was 10 I begun racing & started progress through the junior levels, to whereby the age of 14 I had won two national championship titles. With a keen interest in GP racing, my main drive and focus at this age shifted from the dirt to the tarmac, and I jumped into junior road racing.
In my only season of junior road racing I finished second in Australian championship resulting in an invitation by Moriwaki Engineering to compete in their summer road racing championship. Over the next two years I put my road racing pursuits on hold to concentrate on my education.
My professional career in Australia was developed with Yamaha Australia. I managed to secure excellent results with Yamaha & from this a big international opportunity came in the form of competing in the World Superstock Championship with Suzuki Italia. I completed my campaign finishing fifth in the World Superstock Championship and was named 2007 Rookie of the Year.
For the 2008 season I partnered with Triumph to enter the World Supersport Championship. Entering a brand new bike (Triumph 675) with a new team in the fierce World Supersport Championship proved tough, but managed to enter into the Top 10 on several occasions. I teamed up with the Hanspree Honda Althea squad for my second full season in the World Supersport Championship.
The 2009 season was very competitive and I reached the podium on one occasion and scored a number of excellent Top 5 finishes, culminating 8th overall in the championship standings.
